Boulevard Tree Lighting & Salvation Army Red Kettle Kick Off (Plymouth)

November 9 

  • Location: Kellogg Park, Downtown Plymouth 
  • Time: 7 pm
  • Description: Downtown Plymouth and the Salvation Army will hold their annual tree lighting ceremony beginning at 7:00 p.m. There will be entertainment by the PCEP Choir, 104.3 and the Salvation Army Brass Band. Bring non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army’s food pantry and be entered to win gift certificates from downtown merchants. The first 100 guests will receive a free gift.

Tree Lighting and Lighted Christmas Parade (Allen Park)

November 16

  • Description: 6:00 p.m. – Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Historical House at 15504 Englewood. 6:30 p.m. – Lighted Christmas Parade from the Historical House, down Park Avenue to White Avenue, ending at the Allen Park Community Center

Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony (Detroit)

November 16

  • Time: 5 pm – midnight
  • Description: The 60-foot Norwegian spruce stands tall in the heart of downtown, wrapped in thousands of lights and ornaments, for the remainder of the holiday season. Tree lighting is FREE and open to the public. The annual tradition doubles as the ice rink opening. Come to Campus Martius Park and experience the event that transforms Detroit every holiday season.

Santa’s Arrival (Plymouth)

November 23 

  • Location: Downtown Plymouth, 850 W. Ann Arbor Trail, Plymouth, MI 48170 
  • Time: 6 pm 
  • Description: Santa Arrives in Kellogg Park on a Fire Engine to great children and their parents. The trees will be lit, Santa’s House will be open and there will be a celebration on stage when he arrives with a magician.

 Winterfest Parade & Tree Lighting (Taylor)

November 24

  • Description: The City of Taylor will welcome in the holiday season during its annual Winterfest on Saturday, November 24. The celebration will include the first-ever Winterfest 5K, holiday parade, opening of Santa’s Magic Forest, Fill the F-350 Toy Drive, official tree lighting celebration and fireworks display.

Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony (Trenton)

December 1

  • Location: Downtown Trenton
  • Time: 6 – 7 pm 
  • Description: The Trenton Civic Commission and Parks and Recreation have once again teamed up to kick-off the holiday season in a big way with the annual “Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony.” Stroll downtown and welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to Trenton. The downtown streets will be all aglow with hand-held candles illuminating the parade route. The Parade begins at 6 p.m. Following the Tree Lighting Ceremony, all are invited to Trenton City Hall for the Parade afterglow and awards.

Merry & Bright Parade and Tree Lighting  (Livonia)

Dec. 2 

  • Location:  Frost Middle School and Livonia City Hall and Civic Center Library
  • Time: 6:30 pm
  • Description:  Merry & Bright: Livonia’s Holiday Parade will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2.  The parade will begin at Frost Middle School, continue north on Stark, east on Lyndon, north on Farmington, and east on Civic Center Drive ending in front of City Hall.Once at City Hall, Mayor Wright will be joined by Santa and Mrs. Claus for the tree lighting festivities. Afterward, youngsters are invited to visit Santa at the Robert and Janet Bennett Civic Center Library where they can also enjoy crafts, entertainment and refreshments.This holiday spectacular is presented by the Livonia Community Foundation and sponsored in part by Busch’s Fresh Food Market, Rotary Club of Livonia and Livonia Parks and Recreation.Parking is available at Ford Field, Stymelski Park, and at the Senior Center.

Christmas Tree Lighting and Sing Along (Dearborn)

  • Description: Join the fun with:
    – Performance by the Dearborn Youth Symphony (DYS) String Quartet in the lobby at 6 p.m.
    – Tree Lighting Ceremony outside at 6:40 p.m.
    – Performances by the Dearborn Community Concert Band and the Dearborn Public Schools Elementary and Secondary Honors Choirs in the Theater, beginning at 7 p.m.
    – Annual Sing-Along with Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr. in the Theater.
    – Refreshments in the lobby and an opportunity to visit with Santa Claus in Studio A beginning at 8 p.m.

Canton Tree Lighting (Canton)

Holiday Lighted Parade (Northville)

  • Location: Downtown Northville
  • Time: 6:30 pm 
  • Description: Join the thousands of parade goers as the holiday season officially kicks off with the Holiday Lighted Parade. Bands, dancers, float and of course, Santa, make this annual favorite a great family tradition! Parade begins at 6:30pm and will be followed by the official lighting of the tree and a chance to talk with Santa. Local churches will have hot chocolate and a family photo station available for parade goes.

Holiday Tree Lighting (Grosse Pointe Park) 

  • Location: Grosse Pointe Park Market
  • Time: 5:30 pm 
  • Description: Events begin at 5:30pm, tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6pm. Caroling by the Grosse Pointe South Choir. Warming fires and Smores provided by the City Parks and Recreation Department. Complimentary hot chocolate provided by the Grosse Pointe Boat Club. Complimentary Coney Dogs provided by Mike Muir and the Harvard Grill. Tree Decorated by the Grosse Pointe Foundation.

Riverview Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration (Riverview)

  • Description: Holiday Costume One Mile Fun Run/Walk 4 p.m.
    reindeer and hayrides, kids crafts, outdoor games, strolling carolers & barbershop quartet 4-5:30 p.m., luminaries around the pond decorated by Riverview Elementary students, bonfires with S’mores

Brownstown Tree Lighting (Brownstown Township)

  • Location: Brownstown Community Center
  • Time: 6 pm
  • Description: Come to the Township’s official start of the holiday season.  New this year with over 100,000 lights, music, entertainment, movies, ice carvers and much more!  Santa will arrive to turn on the Township lights and listen to wishes from all the good little girls and boys.  Light refreshments and a small gift for each child.

City of Woodhaven Tree Lighting (Woodhaven)
