April is here which means nicer weather is on its way! Celebrate Spring and all it has to offer with FREE events in our area. Check out the list below and please let me know of other events.
April 5 – Admission to Cranbrook Institute of Science After 5 p.m. (Bloomfield Hills) -Thanks to the MASCO Corporation Foundation.
April 6, 13, 20, 27 – FREE Day at the Flint Institute of Art (Flint) -Every Saturday is free thanks to Huntington.
April 6 – Farm Safety Day (Ann Arbor) – This educational program will be held on Saturday, April 6 in Buildings A & B at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds. Sign-in begins at 12:30pm and the program will be held 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The program will be family focused for all ages. Topics to be covered include: tractor safety, grain and wagon safety, animal safety, fire safety, first aid, and small equipment safety. April 6 – Free College Day at Washtenaw Community College (Ann Arbor) – Twice each year, WCC opens its doors for Free College Day. This popular event is a chance to share the exciting educational and life-changing opportunities our students get to experience every day with our community. Celebrate National Community College Month by visiting campus to experience the breadth and depth of our many programs.
April 6 – Easter Egg Hunt (Livonia) – 11:00 – Ages 6 and younger, 11:15 – Ages 7 -12. Hosted by Community Alliance Credit Union
April 13 – Peter Cottontail Workshop (Knights of Columbus, Wayne) – Kids of all ages will enjoy creating crafts for the Spring and Easter session. This is a free event open to all. Crafts are intended for youth 14 and and under, but all are welcome to join in the fun. Hot dog or Taco with pop and chips will be available for $3.00
April 13 – Free Easter Bunny Pictures (REMAX Cornerstone, Westland) – Come get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny for FREE! Feel free to bring your camera but we will have a photographer on site to take a FREE professional picture which will be emailed to you. We will be accepting donations for The Children’s Miracle Network. All donations stay local to provide scholarships for kids to attend the RE/MAX communication preschool at Beaumont Royal Oak.
April 13 – WardKids Easter Egg Hunt (Ward Church, Northville) – WardKids will host their annual INDOOR Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 2 years old through 2nd grade on Saturday, April 13 at 10am. Join others for fun morning of singing and dancing, hunting for eggs, and story time with a special prize for each family. Renu Cafe will be open at 9:30am and the playscape will open 15 min after the event from 11:30am-1pm!
April 13- Earth Day (Hines Park, Westland) – Celebrate Mother Earth at this FREE EVENT! This event takes place at the Nankin Mills Interpretive Center (near picnic shelter). Events run from noon- 4 p.m. See page for details.
April 13 – Free Young Astronomers winter planetarium shows at WSU (Detroit)- Free one-hour public planetarium show geared towards children under 10. Tickets may be reserved on the Sunday before the show at noon, and are claimed quickly. We also have 20 seats available for walk-in visitors. Learn about the solar system, constellations and the current night sky. This season’s shows include the fulldome animated movie Polaris, the Space Submarine and the Mystery of the Polar Night! Tickets are required for all attendees, and children may not be left at the show unsupervised. If you reserve seats please arrive at least 10 minutes before the show begins. Unclaimed seats will be released to walk-in guests at this time. The Wayne State University planetarium has a Spitz high definition digital projector and seating for 60 guests.
April 13 – 12th Annual Easter Eggstravaganza (Southgate) – Easter Eggs will scatter Market Center Park as our three age groups gather to begin the hunt, promptly at 12pm. There will be two special Easter basket prizes for each age group and the Easter Bunny will be visiting from 12pm-1pm. Bring your own basket and come out to enjoy the fun! This is a free, family-friendly event sponsored by the Southgate CASE Commission and Southgate Parks & Recreation Department.
April 13 – Free Family Festival Day – 2019 Festival of the Arts (Farmington Hills) – Interactive art & fun for families and people of all ages! See over 200 pieces of artwork, hands-on activities for children, live entertainment and artist demonstrations.
April 25 – WOW Thrilling Thursdays – The last Thursday of each month from 6-8 p.m. is free at the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center. FREE programs, fun and games around a specific topic, plus enjoy all the exhibits at the Outdoor Adventure Center!
April 27 – Junior League of Birmingham’s Touch-a-Truck (Meijer Parking Lot, Royal Oak) – Perfect for kids of all ages, the JLB’s Touch-A-Truck community outreach event is sure to be a load of fun! Little ones can climb and explore vehicles large and small, as well as meet and speak with Metro Detroit’s finest, including first responders, truck operators, and community helpers. The event will also feature activities and food trucks. 10 am – 2 pm
