Parker Mill Park - Washtenaw County Park

Parker Mill Park is a Washtenaw County Park located at 4650 Geddes Road in Ann Arbor. Nestled along the banks of Fleming Creek and the Huron River, this park is a favorite of both history enthusiasts and nature lovers.

The historic Parker Grist Mill, built in 1873, is one of the park’s main attractions. The Parker family ceased mill operation in 1958 but the original milling machinery is still working. The mill is open for public tours on select Sundays in the fall, and group tours are available by appointment from May through October.

Although the mill is its defining feature, the park offers extensive trails from the banks of Fleming Creek to its connection with the Huron River. The Hoyt G. Post Trail is a one-mile-long flat boardwalk trail that is accessible to wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers. There is also a paved path that connects Parker Mill County Park to the City of Ann Arbor’s Gallup Park. This scenic route crosses the Huron River and is appropriate for use by cyclists and joggers/runners.

I had to click on this to see what my apparent-namesake park is all about! I’ve never heard of this but the mill sounds cool, I love historical stuff. Bathrooms in a park is definitely a plus, too.

  • Beautiful park! That would be a nice day trip to take the family for a picnic. Thanks for sharing!
