10+ Binge-Worthy Decent Shows

When it comes to watching television shows and movies, I am pretty particular about what I spend my time watching. A good or “decent” show in my book is one without all the unnecessary profanity, sex, and violence. I have been known to turn off a show immediately if a lot of profanity or sex is the focus of the first episode. If you feel the same about shows, check out my list for 10+ binge-worthy decent shows. They passed the “Rachel” test and in fact, I’ve either finished these series or I’ve watched as far as I can at this time. 10+ Binge-Worthy Decent Shows

  1. Anne with an E – Based on “Anne of Green Gables”, this series tells the story of Anne Shirley, an imaginative, strong-willed orphan girl living in the late 19th century. Adopted by elderly siblings on Prince Edward Island, she transforms their lives and the others she encounters along the way.
  2. Blue BloodsBlue Bloods is a police drama series that is filmed in New York City. It follows the life of the Reagan family who work in law enforcement. Starring Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg, the show has been renewed for its twelfth season.
  3. Call of the Midwife Call of the Midwife is a drama series about a group of nurse midwives working in the east end of London in the late 1950s-1960s. For the most part, it depicts the day-to-day lives of the midwives and those in their local neighborhood of Poplar. It includes historical events of the era that have a direct or indirect effect on the characters and storylines.
  4. Heartland Heartland is a Canadian drama television series that follows Amy Fleming and her older sister Lou on their family ranch (Heartland). The sisters live with their widowed grandfather Jack Bartlett, their father Tim Fleming, and hired farmhand Ty Borden. While experiencing the highs and lows of life at the ranch, the family bonds and grows closer over the years.
  5. Longmire – Longmire is a modern western crime drama series that premiered in 2012 on the A&E network. The series focuses on a Wyoming sheriff, Walt Longmire, who’s rebuilding his life after losing his wife. With the help of Vic (a female deputy) and a few friends, he becomes reinvigorated about his job and restores his professional and personal life. 
  6. Million Little Things – A tight-knit circle of friends is shocked after a member of the group commits suicide. The friends realize that they need to start living life as they cope with their loss and tackle current world issues. 
  7. NCIS  (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) – Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs leads a group of colorful personalities in investigating crimes — ranging from murder and espionage to terrorism — that have evidence connected to Navy and Marine Corps personnel. 
  8. The Rookie – This series follows John Nolan, a man in his forties, who becomes a rookie officer at the Los Angeles Police Department. As the oldest rookie on the force, Nolan must navigate the dangerous, unpredictable nature of his job and is determined to make it in his new career despite the challenges.
  9. This is Us – The Pearson family’s generational story unfolds in this emotional drama. Following the life of Jack, Rebecca, and their three children, this story takes place mainly in the present and uses flashbacks to show the family’s past. 
  10. Virgin River – Virgin River follows Melinda “Mel” Monroe, who moves to the remote California town of Virgin River to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner. Leaving the place of painful memories behind, Mel quickly discovers that small-town living isn’t as simple and easy as she expected. This love story is full of drama, action, and suspense! 
  11. When Calls the Heart When Calls the Heart is a television drama series, inspired by Janette Oke’s book of the same name. It tells the story of Elizabeth Thatcher who receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coal-mining town in Canada. The simple life of Coal Valley (later know as Hope Valley) isn’t always so simple…as the story tells!
