10 Lessons I Learned by Leaving my Career Job
Leaving teaching was not an easy decision, but it was a necessary for my health and well-being. You may remember from my previous posts, that I suffered from stress-related depression and anxiety. I was suffering mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. When you aren’t taking care of yourself, it’s difficult to take care of others. After being away from the field for 1.5 years, I’ve decided that leaving teaching is the best choice for me!
Although I’ve experienced many lessons along my path, the most important lesson I learned is putting my trusting God. It was my faith in God that helped me through this transitional period (and will continue to). If you are in a situation where change needs to happen, take the time to thoroughly think, analyze, and pray. It could be the best time you’ll ever spend on yourself.
10 lessons I learned by leaving my career job:
1. God is my strength!
2. He will provide!
3. I can do all things through Him.
4. It is alright to seek help from the medical profession.
5. No one has been in my shoes (EXCEPT ME).
6. It doesn’t matter what others think/feel.
7. It’s okay to say NO.
8. Money doesn’t buy happiness!
9. My happiness is more important!
10. I will survive!
It’s so important to realize your last point. That you will survive! I’ve never been happier leaving my last job.
It’s important that we think things thoroughly when quitting or leaving a job. I’ve been through this a number of times and there were times wherein I felt alone or lost.
God will always provide. He does things for a reason, sometimes it may not be the best for us but he knows what his doing.
I can no longer wait for the day to come that I would render my resignation letter and live my life the way I envision it – travel, business, personal time and lots of free time. Good luck on your journey and congratulations for being tough!

Sounds nice to me :). Congrats on your choice.

Glad to hear you are a believer!
Lately I have been thinking about the fact that I do not want to do this job forever – it is a good job but there is still something missing in my life. Hopefully some day I will be able to go in a direction that meets my needs emotionally/physically in the future.
God will always provide, I believe in that. I love the quote! You definitely learn from the past and apply it in the future.
Such a great post! I suffer from anxiety and depression and there was a shift in my job where I gained new employers about 4 years ago and after leaving the drama of the old owners and coworkers behind….a lot of my anxiety and depression have dissipated and is controllable now!
