10 Ways to Support Our Men and Women in Blue
Our men and women in the police force need our support more than ever in these ever-changing times. Every day courageous police officers put their lives on the line to protect ours. It is a thankless job that many would never think of taking.
Imagine the anguish the police field feels every time a police officer loses his or her life. Imagine being the wife of a police officer. I can only imagine…
10 ways to support our men and women in blue:
- Pray for them daily
- Fly an American flag in your yard
- Lower your flag to half-staff every time a police officer loses his or her life
- Thank them when you see them on the job
- Write a note of thanks and send it to your local police department
- Pay for their meal if you see them dining in a restaurant
- Bake cookies and take them to your local police department
- If you know someone who is an officer, take them something special
- Show support on Facebook
- Obey the law so that they don’t have to be concerned about you
What ideas would you add to this list? Please let me know in the comments.
I don’t know if I could ever handle being the wife of a police officer, or even a military man. It has to be really tough.
I know I couldn’t handle it!
Great ideas! So many good officers out there doing their best to protect.
Thank you for this! My dad is a retired police officer, and it hurts me so much to see so many people being hateful toward law enforcement. They go through so much that people don’t realize, and sacrifice so much for the good of others!
So glad your dad is retired. It’s gotten to be an even scarier job!
GREAT list of suggestions! I have friends who are or who have spouses that are LEOs and j can’t imagine the stress they feel.
Great ideas! I think it’s so important to support and show support for all of our police officers. I’ve never thought about writing a thank you note, but I think I’ll have all my boys do one together. Thanks!
Thank you for this post! Several of my dear family members are police officers and each day they go out with honor and dedication to protecting those around them. It’s such a tough job and there’s no way I could ever do it or even be the wife to them, I’d be so worried and there’s so much sacrifice each day! It’s so worrying in times like these too with all the rioting and hate going on. Our people in blue need to know that there’s more people with love and support for them!
You are exactly right!
Matt’s work always takes them Poinsettias and food goodies at Christmas. They deserve so much more respect.
Way back when I was an intern newspaper reporter, I did a police ride along. Seeing even the slightest traffic violation from their perspective was eye-opening. It is a really demanding and often thankless job when done right. These are great ideas for honoring and thanking those officers.
#10 is the most effective one at least for me. This way, you are showing support and respect to their uniform.
