New Hyatt Place Ann Arbor
New Hyatt Place Ann Arbor
This past Saturday I was given the opportunity to stay at the new Hyatt Place Ann Arbor. Hyatt Place opened on October 3rd on State Street near the Briarwood Mall and I-94. Just minutes from the University of Michigan Campus, this location is sure to be a hit with family, friends, and football fans!
Ann Arbor is home to the University of Michigan, which means it’s a happening town! Three friends and I decided to spend the day downtown before heading to the hotel for the evening. We ate at a local restaurant, walked to some of the local shops, and visited the Salvation Army for some resale shopping. All this before heading to the hotel for a relaxing evening.
Hotel Common Areas
One of the first things we noticed when we walked in the doors of the Hyatt Place was the open concept floor plan. From the doorway you can see the check-in desk, bar area, eating area, and various lounging areas.
The Coffee to Cocktail Bar
The Coffee to Cocktail Bar is where we spent our evening having drinks, sharing an appetizer, and playing games. There are plenty of seating arrangements available in the bar area. We sat at a large table with outlets for charging cell phones or other electronic devices.
One thing we all agreed on was that the bar area was a great place to hang out, but we weren’t impressed with the mixed drinks or the appetizer we ordered. We were delighted with the free breakfast that we had the next morning.
The Gallery Kitchen Breakfast Area
Hyatt Place Ann Arbor offers all guests a free breakfast. Breakfast items include cage-free eggs, all-natural bacon and sausage, and Greek yogurt. There was also pancakes, oatmeal, fresh fruit, and various breads the morning of our stay. As far as beverages, they offer freshly brewed Seattle’s Best Coffee®, milk, juice, and tea.
Other Common Areas
Other hotel common areas include a beautiful pool, 24 hour gym, and a 24 hour e-room where you’ll find computers and printers. The hotel also offers 1,700 square feet of meeting space spread across three venues for events like conferences, seminars, and bridal showers.
There are 142 rooms available at the Hyatt Place. Each room comes with either a single king bed or two king beds, a coffee marker, and a big-screen HDTV. Our room was equipped with two king beds and a cozy corner with a sofa.
The bathroom was good-sized and included a beautifully tiled walk in shower. There was plenty of room for more than one person to get ready at a time (important for girl’s trips).
We really enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Place Ann Arbor and we would stay there again! The atmosphere is welcoming, the location is ideal, and the local touches throughout make the place seem like home. If you are looking for a night away, I suggest checking out the Hyatt Place.
