Olga’s Kitchen Limited Time Only Taste of the Far East (& Giveaway)
Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit Olga’s Kitchen to sample all four of their Taste of the Far East limited time menu items. They are currently offering:
- Sweet Heat Asian Salad – fresh field greens topped with shredded cabbage and carrots, sliced cucumbers, chopped fresh cilantro, crispy wontons, and served with a side of our house-made Korean BBQ vinaigrette.
- Korean Chicken Crispy Olga – Crispy breaded chicken tenderloins tossed in a sweet and spicy Korean style BBQ sauce with shredded cabbage, sautéed fresh vegetables, and finished with buttermilk ranch dressing.
- Citrus Lemongrass Ice Tea – Freshly brewed iced tea infused with the flavors of exotic citrus and lemongrass.
- Coconut Olga Bread Pudding – Olga’s secret recipe Olga Bread baked in rich coconut custard and topped with toasted coconut, whipped cream and cinnamon.
My Experience
When I sat down, I was greeted with a glass of Citrus Lemongrass Ice Tea. I love ice tea, especially in the warmer months. This tea was unique. It might be an acquired taste for some, but I very much enjoyed it.
My meal started with the Sweet Heat Asian Salad. It is quite a large salad and I didn’t think I could eat it all. Boy was I wrong! I enjoyed the fresh variety of field greens topped with the tasty crunchy toppings listed above, but it was the house-made Korean BBQ vinaigrette dressing that made this salad so unique. The dressing has a touch of heat and sweet. If you like a little kick in your food, I highly suggest this salad. It is served with a side of fresh warm pita bread.
Next, I sampled the Korean Chicken Crispy Olga. If you’re a spice lover, you might really like this Olga. As a spice lover myself, I enjoyed this Olga very much. Before I even took a bite, the server brought me some extra Ranch dressing to help with the heat if needed (but I didn’t touch it). The chicken tenderloins were extremely tender and juicy, while the sautéed fresh veggies added a touch of crunch. I will not lie, the sweet and spicy Korean style BBQ sauce was spicy, but I loved the combination! Another winner for me!
Lastly, I had the Coconut Olga Bread Pudding. Although I like bread pudding, coconut isn’t my favorite so I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy this. Surprising, the coconut taste is very subtle so I liked this dessert. The bread pudding was crispy on the outside yet warm and cake like on the inside. It was a delicious combination of custard, coconut, cinnamon, and whipped topping.
