August 1: Mommy & Me Hikes (Marshbank Park, West Bloomfield Township) – Join a Naturalist on a nature discovery and exercise walk. The trail is unpaved so all-terrain strollers are recommended. Indoor activities will be added if needed due to weather.  These events are free but preregistration is required.

August 1: Free Outdoor Movies at City Square (Warren) – Grab a blanket or chairs for Hotel Transylvania 3, 8-9:30 pm.

August 2-3: Allen Park Street Fair (Allen Park) – Over 50,000 visitors, 200 artists, 15 restaurants, and a multitude of local businesses. As one of the largest art fairs in the State of Michigan, the 38th Allen Park Street Fair scheduled for August 2nd and 3rd 2019. We attract artists from across the state, region and nation to showcase their work, offering a local platform to expand community awareness local talent. This event provides fun for all ages from exploring the talent, local entertainment, and kid zone.

August 2-4: Dearborn Homecoming Festival (Dearborn) – Dearborn’s Homecoming is a spectacular, free, three-day festival with continuous entertainment on multiple stages (including national and regional performers), family and children events, high school reunion picnics, great food, a large carnival, and magnificent fireworks Saturday and Sunday.

August 2-4: Buy Michigan Now Festival (Northville) – Entering its 11th year in downtown Northville, the Buy Michigan Now Festival is a weekend celebration of the state’s annual Buy Michigan Week. This family-friendly event includes tasty treats, street vendors, live music, and children’s activities, all highlighting Michigan-based businesses and Michigan-made products.

August 3, 10, 17, 24, 31: FREE Day at the Flint Institute of Art (Flint) -Every Saturday is free thanks to Huntington.

August 3, 10, 17, 24, 30: Saturday in the Park (Hines Drive, Westland) – Every Saturday May-September 28 from 9:00 a.m – 3:30 p.m. Six miles of Hines Drive will be closed from Ann Arbor Trail to Outer Drive for the public of all ages to enjoy running, walking, skating or cycling safely on a traffic free road.

August 6: National Night Out (Canton) – A FREE community-building special event sponsored by the Canton Public Safety, the Canton Response to Hate Crimes Coalition, the Canton Public Library, and Canton Leisure Services, promoting safer neighborhoods and strengthening the movement to stop hate, address bullying, while building more inclusive communities for all. Activities include: Touch a Truck, vehicle display, community booths, delicious eats, giveaways & prizes.

August 9-11:  Milford Memories Art in the Village (Milford) – Over 300 Artists from all over ~ Twp stages with live entertainment ~Great Food~ Central Park Beer Tent~ 5K/10K Run ~ Cold Butt Euchre Tournament ~ Blind Canoe Race~ Dedicated Kids Activity Tent ~ Kids Fishing Contest

August 9-10: Wayne Downtown Days Flea Market (Wayne) – This two day event will feature live music, art-focused contests, and family-friendly activities, including a flea market and community garage sale!

August 10 & 11: Shelby Township Art Fair (Shelby Township) – Enjoy more than 100 exhibitors during our annual juried art fair. Along with talented artists and skilled craftsmen, there will be family activities, great food, kids crafts and so many other fun activities. The art fair also hosts tours inside Andrew’s School House, food trucks, mural walls and mesmerizing circus performers. Free parking is available at and near the event with a free shuttle to and from the municipal grounds when parked at the senior center.

August 15: Free Outdoor Movies at City Square (Warren) – Grab a blanket or chairs for Dumbo, 8-9:30 pm.

August 16-18: Howell Melon Festival (Howell) – Fun family recreation activities, music, games, food and tasty Howell melons.

August 17: 2019 Fire Muster (Ypsilanti) – Join the Michigan Firehouse Museum for our annual Fire Muster in Riverside Park! Come see Fire Trucks of all types, a bucket brigade demonstration, hand pumper demonstrations, events for the kids, fire safety information and much more! This event is free to the public so bring the whole family!

August 17: Kidz Fest (Praise Baptist Church, Plymouth) – Pony and Horse Rides, Petting Zoo, The King’s Yomen Yo-Yo Shows, Indoor Inflatables, Face Painting, Games, Crafts, Hotdog Meal, Toddler Zone, Playground, Kids Nail Salon, Popcorn, Cotton Candy, Prize Drawings and more! Everything is free! Register online to avoid the line at pbcplymouth.org/kidz-fest.

August 24: 14th Annual Family Fest & Car Show (CrossPointe Community Church, Wayne) – Games, Food (hot dogs, caramel apples, cotton candy, nachos + more!), activities for the whole family, classic car show with hundreds of cars, clothing giveaway, crafts., bounce houses, and and much more!

August 29:  WOW Thrilling Thursdays (Detroit)– The last Thursday of each month from 6-8 p.m. is free at the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center. FREE programs, fun and games around a specific topic, plus enjoy all the exhibits at the Outdoor Adventure Center!
