10 Open Drive-In Theaters Michigan 

As social distancing in Michigan continues, indoor theaters remain closed but you can still see movies on big screens. There are currently 10 open drive-in theaters in Michigan! So, grab your family, load up the snacks, pillows, blankets, chairs, and any other necessities, and head to a drive-in near you!

10 Open Drive-In Theaters Michigan 

Capri Drive-In (Coldwater)

  • This drive-in was built by John (Sr.) and Mary Magocs in the summer of 1964. Over 50 years later, it continues to be run by the same family! Open 7 days a week, the box office opens at 7:30 PM Fri-Sat, 8:30 PM Sun-Thu. Movies start at sundown.

Cherry Bowl Drive-In (Honor)

  • This theater aims to provide an environment that takes you back to the Fabulous 50’s with the finest in Film, Food, Fun, and Family Entertainment. They never play any movie stronger than PG 13. Gates open at 7:30 pm and movies begin at dusk.

5 Mile Drive-In (Dowagiac) 

  • Built in 1961 this theater has been delighting movie-goers with great new movies and delicious snacks for over 50 years.

Ford Wyoming Drive-In (Dearborn)

  • This was once the largest drive-in theater in the United States as it could hold 3000 cars! See two movies for the price of one as all showings are double features. Open 7 days a week at 7:30 Friday-Sunday and 8:00 Monday-Thursday.

Getty Drive-In (Muskegon)

  • Since 1948, Getty Drive-In Theater has been a popular entertainment destination for people of all ages in the West Michigan area. Featuring single movies at only $5 per person right now!

Hi-Way Drive-In (Carsonville) 

  • This drive-in opened in 1947 and it’s the oldest in Michigan. The box office opens at 8:00 and the movies start at dusk.

Summer Drive-In US Hockey Arena (Plymouth)

  • One of Michigan’s newer drive-ins, this theater is located in the parking lot of the hockey arena. Featuring 3 screens and a restaurant on-site. Gates open at 7:30 pm and movies start at dusk.

Sunset Drive-In (Hartford)

  • This theater which opened in 1948 is a sister to 5 Mile Drive-In as it has the same owner. They are open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7 pm and first of two movies starts at dusk.

U.P. Film Union (Manistique)

  • The U.P. Film Union is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that owns and operates the last drive-in theater in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Thanks to generous sponsors they are able to make drive-in movie events (4-5 a year) free to the public.

US 23 Drive-In (Flint)

  • This theater opened in 1952 with one screen but has advanced to three. Gates open at 7:30 pm and movies start at around 9:25 pm.
