Halloween will be here before we know it and some Halloween activities take place in September! I’ve teamed up with three other writers to bring you this comprehensive list of Halloween activities in the Metro Detroit Area. Romulus DDA Pumpkin Festival (Romulus)

  • Description: The annual Pumpkin Festival is a 3-day event that starts on the third Friday in September. The festival begins with a night parade where everything is lighted from bicycles to cement trucks. Thousands of people line Goddard Road to wait for the fun. The street festival offers wonderful music, food, crafts and games for all ages. You can enter a pumpkin rolling, pumpkin pie eating, or a pumpkin seed-spitting contest. Visit or enter the Classic Car Show, our classic Tractor Show or just relax and listen to music. The festival is a celebration of friends and family; a harvest celebration that generates an enthusiastic spirit and regenerates our sense of Community.
DeBuck’s Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch (Belleville)

Hallowe’en in Greenfield Village  (Dearborn)

Maybury Farm Corn Maze (Northville) 

September 10 – October 24, 2021 (Fridays-Sundays)

  • Time: Friday from 5 pm- 9 pm; Saturday from 10 am – 9 pm; Sunday from noon – 7 pm
  • Cost: $13 per person, kids 2 and under free. 
  • Description: The full 10-acre family-friendly maze will take about 60 minutes to complete while the mini-maze, which is approximately 1-acre, takes about 20 minutes to complete. Each year they feature a new maze design that will include a scavenger hunt!

    The Maybury Farm corn maze includes a tractor-driven wagon ride to and from the maze. Pick-ups and drop-offs are scheduled every 30 minutes. When you’ve completed the maze, jump back on the wagon and head back to the farm to enjoy fresh, delicious Parmenter’s cider and donuts available for purchase in our general store or visit the farm animals. 

Skeletons are Alive Launch Party (Northville) 

October 1

  • Description: The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is excited to welcome more than 120 life-sized themed Skeletons at their 10th Anniversary launch party. The evening features music, food trucks, a photo booth, and family entertainment.

Story Trail Trick or Treating (Canton) 

October 7

  • Address:  Heritage Park Story Trail
  • Time: 4-7:30pm
  • Cost: $5R/$6NR
  • Description: Grab the family, get dressed up in your costume and join Canton Leisure Services, The Canton Public Library, and Canton Public Safety in Heritage Park for Trick or Treating along the Heritage Park Story Trail from 4-7:30 pm. The selected story is for all ages! Pre-registration is required with a fee of $5R/$6NR per trick or treater! (Only those trick or treating need to register and pay). The trail is a mile long so make sure to bring strollers or wagons. If you have a later time slot a flashlight is suggested!

Halloween Carpool Cinema featuring “Nightmare Before Christmas” (Canton) 

October 9

  • Time: 7:30 pm
  • Cost: $10R/$13NR per car
  • Description: Don’t miss this drive-in-style movie featuring “Nightmare Before Christmas” (Rated PG). Movie will begin at approximately 7:30 pm. Activities begin at 5:30 pm including a car decorating contest, costume contest, and a chance to learn the dance moves to “Thriller” on the big screen. Pre-registration is required with a fee of $10R/$13NR per car.

Halloween Hysteria (Northville)

October 10

  • Description: An afternoon of spooky Halloween fun for all the family!

Monster Mash (Canton) – 21+ Event 

October 16

  • Description: A Canton community favorite! This 21+ Halloween party features a costume contest, games, and a cash bar, all to the live soundtrack of Atomic Radio covering top 40 and Halloween hits!

Harvest Festival (New Boston)

October 16

  • Cost: Free 
  • Description: Enjoy a beautiful hayride along a forested trail (masks required) and gather around the bonfire for kid-friendly stories while enjoying cider and donuts. There will be crafts, games, and a costume contest for the kids! Ages 0-15 can come dresses up for a chance to win a prize! 

Halloween Scavenger Hunt (Northville)

October 19

  • Time: 4 pm 
  • Cost: $10 per family 
  • Description: Dress in your costume (optional) and join us at Thayer’s Corner for a family-friendly scavenger hunt. Get ready for a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt at Thayer’s Corner, fun for the whole family. Wear your costume and grab a photo near our photo prop station. Walk through the trail and see if your group can spot all of our hunt items. Scavenger hunt, cider, and donuts pick a pumpkin, storytime, and other entertainment. Must register before the event. 

Trunk or Treat Connection Church (Canton)

October 21

  • Address: Connection Church, 3855 S. Sheldon Rd, Canton, MI 48188
  • Time: 6:00-8:00 pm 
  • Cost: Free
  • Description: Partnership with the Canton local police department. Several local businesses and organizations will be on hand to pass out treats to attendees as you drive through the decorated parking lot. Treats will be placed in the back or trunks of your vehicle as you drive along the designated path.

Shadows from the Past Halloween Event (Livonia)

October 22 & 23 

  • Address: Greenmead Historical Park, 20501 Newburgh Road, Livonia, MI 
  • Time: 5 pm-7:30 pm (Sessions run every 15 minutes and will be approximately one hour long)
  • Cost: Tickets are $7 and must be purchased in advance.
  • Description: Greenmead’s historic buildings serve as the backdrop for this event! Participants will walk through the village, stopping at stations to receive goodies and treats for the kids. Costumes are encouraged! Tickets are $7 per person and must be pre-purchased before the event. Sessions run every 15 minutes from 5-7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online through Parks and Recreation and at the Greenmead Office. Candy Loop (Belleville)

October 23

  • Description: A family-friendly, boo-tastic, trick-or-treating event at the Quirk Park Pavilion. Wear your favorite costume as you walk, dance or prance to Halloween-themed stations providing candy from local businesses and organizations. The event is free and open to the public, but you must register for a timeslot, so we can properly social distance everyone. Register at vanburen-mi.org/parks.

  • Description: Have a fun time at our not-so-spooky Halloween event! Enjoy pumpkin decorating, dancing, coloring, Halloween stations, and a costume contest for the tiny pumpkins. Hype Trunk or Treat (Dearborn Heights)

Dino Boo Halloween Stroll (Dearborn Heights)

Things That Go Bump in the Night (Plymouth) 

October 29

  • Address: Plymouth Historical Museum, 155 S Main St, Plymouth, MI 
  • Time: 6 pm – 9 pm
  • Cost: $10 per person 11 and over; $5 for children 6 to 11; children 5 and under free
  • Description: Something is eerie in the Plymouth Historical Museum. Ghosts have infiltrated the exhibit spaces after hours and we’re not sure what mischief they’re up to! Come explore the Museum after hours on Friday, October 29, with groups starting every 15 minutes between 6 and 8 pm. Halloween costumes are encouraged, but not required. Upon departure from the Museum, children will be given a bag of candy and a craft to make at home.

Adult Ghost Hunting at the WHVP (Westland) -18+ event!

October 29

  • Description: On the last Friday before Halloween, why not spend it at the Westland Historic Village Park as the Great Lakes Ghost Hunters conduct a public investigation. Tickets are limited and expected to sell out so don’t delay!
    100% of the ticket sales go to the Westland Historical Society which works with the Westland Historical Commission to maintain and operate the Westland Historic Village Park. See FB event for more details. 

Streets of Treats Family Halloween Event (Northville) 

October 30

  • Address: Downtown Northville
  • Time: 10:00 am – 11:30 am
  • Cost: Free
  • Description: Kids and parents, meet in Town square and reveal your 2021 costume to your friends and neighbors. Trick or Treating will kick off with a Ceremonial wave to welcome the Tooth Fairy from Preservation Dental into town at 10 am in Town square. Following the wave participants will start trick or treating at the downtown businesses and treat stations along the route till 11:30 am. Enjoy the skeleton sculptures placed around the downtown while enjoying a fun, family-friendly Halloween activity in charming downtown Northville.

Wicked Halloween Run (Plymouth)
