About the Show:

Producers Lia Vollack, John Branca, John McClain, and Broadway in Detroit are thrilled to announce that MJ will make its Detroit premiere at the Fisher Theatre from October 23 – November 3.  Tickets go on sale Friday, July 12, and can be purchased online at BroadwayInDetroit.com at 10:00 a.m. or in person at the Fisher Theatre box office at noon.

He is one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Now, Michael Jackson’s unique and unparalleled artistry comes to Detroit in MJ, the multiple Tony Award®-winning musical centered around the making of the 1992 Dangerous World Tour. Created by Tony Award®-winning Director/Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, MJ goes beyond the singular moves and signature sound of the star, offering a rare look at the creative mind and collaborative spirit that catapulted Michael Jackson into legendary status. It’s thrilling sold-out crowds on Broadway, in cities across North America, and in London’s West End…and now MJ is startin’ somethin’ as it makes its Detroit premiere at the Fisher Theatre in October.  

The current tour cast features Roman Banks (Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen and “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”) in the title role of ‘MJ’. Joining him in the First National Tour cast is Jamaal Fields-Green (MJ – Alternate), Brandon Lee Harris (Michael), Josiah Benson (Little Michael), Bane Griffith (Little Michael), Devin Bowles (Joseph Jackson/Rob), Mary Kate Moore (Rachel), J. Daughtry (Berry Gordy/Nick), Josh A. Dawson (Tito Jackson/Quincy Jones), Bryce A. Holmes (Little Marlon), Matt Loehr (Dave), Da’Von T. Moody (Alejandro) and Anastasia Talley (Katherine Jackson/Kate).  

Performance Times and Tickets: 

Performance times for MJ appearing October 23 – November 3 at the Fisher Theatre located 3011 W. Grand Blvd., Detroit, MI are:

  • Tuesday through Saturday evening performances at 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday matinees at 2:00 p.m.
  • Sunday matinees at 1:00 p.m.
  • Sunday evening performances at 6:30 p.m.
  • Additional matinee performance on Thursday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m.
  • Special Open Caption performance on Sunday, October 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets start at $39.00 (including parking & facility fee) and will go on sale Friday, July 12. Tickets can be purchased online at BroadwayInDetroit.com at 10:00 a.m. and in person at the Fisher Theatre box office starting at noon.
